We also talked to Annelise, Marketing & Community Manager at respondi:
Annelise, as a project manager you run the French opinion platform demandi. Can you describe an average day for you?
Annelise: “The newsletters from our partners arrive first thing in the morning so I can see right away which topics are currently of interest. Based on this, I write our topic survey and implement the design together with the media designers.
And, of course, I have to do a lot of Internet research and often talk on the phone to Paris or Switzerland, to discuss our collaborations with partners. Getting to know new partners is also a part of my day-to-day work.
We process and analyse the results from the surveys and create the books of tables and graphs as a team and then put together the most interesting statistics and statements. Afterwards, I publish these in the form of short news bulletins or articles on our opinion platform. Together with researching new contacts, that makes a lot of varied elements that go to make up my day.”
Why did you decide to work for respondi?
Annelise: “I loved the challenge demandi presents of having to persuade other people to work with us each week from scratch. Also establishing partnerships and nurturing collaborative ventures, which are profitable for both sides, that was the attraction and it still is. I never get bored and I can make use of all my strengths, i.e. my talent for writing as well as my love of conversation - a little bit of a chat here, discussing the pros and cons of an argument there, having a good laugh – and satisfying my natural inquisitiveness.
After all, I come into contact with topics in my job that I would never find out about otherwise. For example, through our motto surveys, I know much more about football in France and Switzerland than I did before and as far as the politics of both of those countries goes, I’m well versed in that now as well. I’ve also had a quick introduction to who Tokio Hotel are, although I’m sure that everyone knows who they are by now.”
What does ‘communicating on the net’ demand?
Annelise: “Excellent technology is the be-all and end-all. Why should our partners travel by rickshaw with us if there’s a limousine waiting just around the corner? The other thing is the people – you have to find the right person to address your question to and communicate with them directly. For me it’s all about creating one direct line of communication to achieve each objective. Obviously that’s a big challenge!”
What kind of person would work well with you and the online marketing department?
Annelise: “A wallflower would be out of place here. You need to be eloquent, persuasive and have lots of energy. You’ve got to be able to convince people on the phone, to know your job really well and to keep a clear head even when things get a bit rough. You have to be very organised if you want to keep track of our numerous workflows and find the time to push ahead the projects that are important to you. The job demands a great deal of creativity and flexibility.”
How does the Internet influence your work?
Annelise: “We have a very varied relationship (she laughs). By its very nature the Internet is becoming more and more interesting for all kinds of different groups and companies on account of its incredible growth and the continually increasing number of users. I need to follow and analyse these developments carefully and offer appropriate services to the users. To get high quality results every day in terms of communication I need their trust and I always need to stay attractive as a service provider.”
Why respondi?
Annelise: “If you want to achieve something, put your ideas into practice and work in an environment that inspires you with an incredible amount of energy and pushes you in the most positive sense to get the best out of yourself, then respondi is the right place for you. That’s what respondi means to me. Also to work in a team that is rooting for you and is so pleased for you and shares in your successes – this was a complete novelty for me.”
