Germany is World Champion and our panellists predicted it! Even before the first world cup match had been played, 30% of participants were sure that Germany’s eleven would win the tournament. Such confidence, despite the medicore nature of the qualification matches.

Germany was the clear favourite after their 4:0 win against Portugal. Then after the dramatic goal-rich match with Brazil, there was no stopping the German national team.
The effects of individual, surprising results were continually reflected in our survey. However, it was always the established football nations who secured the top places in our ranking. Only very few believed an outsider could win the competition. Which as it turns out was right.
