In cooperation with respondi, the consulting and research group Goldmedia analysed the annual charts of the VoD platform, accompanied by a representative survey among VoD users in the UK to find out both their favorite and newly discovered series in 2018.

Although the last “Game of Thrones” series  (HBO) was released in 2017, the hype around the show did not subside and with the highly anticipated release of the new season this month – it remains the most successful series on streaming platforms in the UK. The Netflix original series “Stranger Things” comes in second – even though there was no new season in 2018, followed by “The Walking Dead” on third place. The series “Bodyguard”, reveals to be a huge success, coming in new and sealing sixth place; released 2018, it is the only new series ranked among the top 10.

When asked about new series` they discovered in 2018, the comedy series “The Good Place” ranked first. Netflix is a good choice when it comes to new discoveries; out of the top 15 series`, 14 are streamed by Netflix.
