There are not many cities nor many events for which I would get up at 4 am. My expectations of the promising programme and the prospect of meeting about 200 other attendees are high. We meet in a well-chosen location, the Empire Riverside Hotel, near the Landungsbrücken, close to the water. And the sun is shining!
It takes a while for me to warm up. The first talks are a bit superficial, but it gets better. An exciting talk held by eye square and DeutschlandCard on agile product development is followed by awards ceremonies for Young Researcher 2019, Innovation Price 2019and the Data Science Cup. Innovative concepts and study designs on the topics media, advertising and price research as well as Data Science are presented, amongst others by the later winners Facit/ Mediaplus/ Google/ProSiebenSat1, who introduced the media equivalence study, an elaborate approach with more than 3.000 CAPI interviews on the evaluation of ideal media-budget-calculation. There are also several respondi clients among the nominees and winners, such as Heute und Morgen, [m]science, MediaCom, WWU Münster, HHL Leipzig and sobr. In the evening, we meet at the museum ship Rickmers, the event is a great success with a fantastic band and inspiring conversations! Thanks a lot for that!
The next morning starts with a keynote by Prof. Dr. Gunter Dück relativating Artificial Intelligence. The thought behind it is not a new one, but is presented in an entertaining and memorising way: machines do not make decisions. They follow the logic decided for and programmed by humans. Quite a reassuring thought! Consequently, it means humans should further develop creative and artistic abilities, as this is what distinguishes us from machines! This was later followed by an interesting talk on continuous scenario management by ScMI and BMW Motorrad. Generally speaking, day 2 was even more exciting than day 1. Overall, I come away from the event with positive impressions. Thanks to the speakers for their fascinating insights and to the organisation committee of BVM for the nice framing! See you in 2020!
