It comes as no surprise, that the interest in news has risen since the beginning of the crisis: In France, Germany and the UK, the traffic on news websites has increased by about 15 %.
But what exactly are people reading about? To find the answer, we analysed all articles related to the pandemic on 8,221 online news websites, that have been visited by our tracked, double opted in research panels in France, Germany and the UK. After having identified the articles related to the topic, we segmented the articles read by its topical focus. The result; four different clusters that group different kind of news: articles focusing on the disease and its evolution, articles dealing with the future and the consequences of the crisis, live updates and breaking news and articles highlighting specific small stories within the bigger picture.
