IT IS THIS SPECIAL
TIME OF THE YEAR
…IN A SPECIAL YEAR

A special year – dominated by the Corona-Crisis.

Like many other businesses we moved quickly into remote working and adapted our daily lives. Despite the challenges we met, our services to you remained uninterrupted and we are thankful for that. However, not everyone has been able to master this crisis – some have been hit especially hard, among them the homeless. Considering this, we decided to not send Christmas presents this year, but rather support local charities in Cologne, Paris and London, in their tireless work to provide help to those who need it more than ever this year:

Helping Hands Cologne e. V. was founded in 2014 and works solely on an honorary basis; providing help from hand to hand. 100% of donations reach the people in need. In the beginning, they concentrated on helping refugees by organising collection campaigns and the transport of donations to war zones, as well as various projects in refugee camps. Out of curiosity they set up a soup kitchen for homeless people where they met people who were in dire need; they were incredibly grateful for a warm meal and some essential items. This work was followed by many more providing people on the street with meals and other necessities on a regular basis and is now their main function. Their philosophy is to not judge anybody because of their history, their origin or their personal fate and to help those who have slipped through the net and become invisible by society.

We will donate 1.000 € to Helping Hands Cologne.

La Chorba is an independent organisation founded in 1998. It’s goal is to fight and abolish the discrepancy between the increasing number of people who don’t have enough to eat and our consumerist society which leads to an enormous amount of food waste. Hence, they made it their mission to distribute food deemed no longer edible to people in need. Today, they distribute about 800 meals in their nightly soup kitchen and also support people on their journey getting back into work.

We will donate 1.000 € to La Chorba Paris.

Glass Door Homeless Charity was founded in 1999 and provides emergency winter shelter and year-round advice for people experiencing homelessness. Their vision is a world where no one has to sleep on the streets of London and they are committed to supporting people get—and stay—off the street.  They are the UK’s largest provider of open-access services for people affected by homelessness, and work with local churches, community centres, partners and volunteers to pull the community together.  This year, their usual winter night shelters cannot open due to the risk of spreading Covid-19. Like many others, they had to pivot quickly to find new ways of supporting some of the most vulnerable people this winter.  A historic first, Glass Door is now providing guests with individual rooms to find protection from the cold and pandemic.

These free services are a life-line to those who would otherwise be sleeping on the street. By also offering an extensive advice service, Glass Door not only saves lives by providing refuge from the cold, but also helps their guests to build more stable futures.

We will donate £1.000 to Glass Door London.

Although the Corona-Crisis has had a deep impact on our life, we are confident it will be overcome. However, another crisis with long-lasting consequences shouldn’t be ignored – the climate crisis. For this reason, we also chose to support Plant for the Planet, a youth-led organisation fighting climate change via reforestation, and the Trillion Tree Campaign by donating 1 000 trees.

Plant-for-the-Planet has its origins in a school report, and has developed into a global movement with one goal: motivating people all over the world to plant one trillion trees to fight the climate crisis. Almost 14 billion trees have been planted so far. A huge amount, but there is still a long road ahead to reach one trillion trees. Trees can be planted with various organisations which take part in the project.

We chose to plant 1000 trees in the Yucatan peninsula in Mexico, in an area which was in a bad condition when Plant-for-the-Planet started planting trees there. They are planting trees of eight different native tree species with a survival rate of 94%, which is more than four times higher than in other reforestation projects in this region. Today, one tree is planted every 15 seconds, the aim for this area alone is to plant 100 million trees.

We are sure we have your support in donating to these charities.

Especially this year, we are extremely grateful to you for your trust and our great work together! We hope you’ll have a peaceful festive season and that even in these difficult times, you are able to spend time with your friends and family. We wish you all a safe and healthy 2021 and look forward to working with you and hopefully meeting up with you again!
